12 Days of ChristmasOn the first day of Christmas ... I made a mini hat ... I actually knitted twelve mini hat ornaments for each day of Christmas - a garland - and I took them for a walk to Toronto Waterfront (as usual). All you need for this mini project is the leftover yarn and some of your favourite patterns. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

ARTISAKNITY 2020This is my last newsletter in the past 10 years - the first one was issued in June 2010. Every month during those years I would come up with some knitting or crafts ideas and present them in a newsletter. This time it's a book! Photo book. I 'put' the newsletters of ten years in a photo book and published it.
This is page 100. Thank you for taking a 'passion-crafts-knitting-inspiration-imagination' walk in the past ten years with me. I will keep knitting and posting my work on my website - artisaknity.com
Also, check my website later for the e-version of the photo book. Happy knitting!! Feet and ButterfliesMay Flowers. Poor blooming flowers and magnolia trees in our roof garden in May were covered in snow, but this butterfly landed on cold damaged tulips to 'comfort' them anyways :-) Hit of the Season. Then came the heat ... And the butterfly became the hit of the season ... at least for Amelia. It can be a toy and an accessory. A butterfly is a very popular motif in crafts. This butterfly was crocheted and decorated with natural stones. Feet Accessory. You can modify it to a foot accessory- not very useful, but beautiful. Barefoot. It's light, soft, and very 'summery.' The pattern was borrowed from the knitting magazine Sabrina N6 2014. Fly, Butterfly, Fly newsletter was issued on Artisaknity's 5 years. This year my website turned 10 years old.
In June 2010 I made and published the first newsletter as well. Next month will be issued the last one! Time for something new! Happy knitting! Spring EggspectationsApril is the Ester month, and all the crafts are around this holiday: eggs, bunnies, etc. This year again I decided to push my knitting art to the eggstreme and eggsibit my crafts as a real eggspert. I do a lot of Easter crafts, and my favourites are knitted and crocheted eggs. I usually use wool or mohair. This year it's cotton. Pattern : single crochet. Hook: 3.5 mmJust work in a spiral. Most of my Easter crafts are 'eggs-oriented', but bunnies is a big part of it too - check out other April newsletters. My first and favourite crocheted 'egg creation' is the yellow with flowers egg. This Easter I've made a purple and yellow one. These two colours match the first spring flowers. Yarn: cotton. Pattern : single crochet. Hook: 3.5 mm. April Eggcitement What does the future hold? Anything exciting in April? ... Eggciting? Sure! Happy Easter! and Happy Knitting! Gray WrapAll Grey? March is really grey this year ... I haven't done any new knitting this month. The wrap in this newsletter is the one I made last summer - on the way to Toronto from Europe. It is one of those speedy projects that require very little thinking - perfect to knit while you are on the plane! Baktus is a triangular-shaped scarf or a small shawl. It is a perfect neck wrap for a chilly weather. Fun Name "Baktus" is a tooth troll from a Norwegian children's book, and Bactus is a play on words from 'bacteria'. Together with "Karius" they teach children to brush their teeth and are destroyed by the dentist.... With the long thin ends hanging down you can see where the association with a tooth came from. Clean and Simple Design. I used an easy and quick knitting pattern: Garter Stitch - the most common stitch for a Baktus scarf. If you knit in Stockinette, you'll get a Karius Scarf :-) This scarf will surely compliment anything you wear.
Oh, 02-2020Welcome, February! Winter is on and off this year, so is my knitting :-) I am doing small knits this month - hats mostly. Inspiration: Loops It's lots about loops lol :-) this February: - zeros and Os - an interesting Winter Installation on Waterfront called LOOP - knitting 'loops' and lots of hats - The Rideau Canal loop :-) Hats for Dolls This hat was made for Amelia's doll. The pattern is exactly the same as in the 'real' one. Then this 'girl' got a coat . Frozen? February, but no snow again on Harbourfront - fun anyways! Let it go! Let it go! .....' (Amelia's favourite song from Frozen) Ice and Colours February, be fabulous! and sweet! and colourful! like these marshmallows in Ottawa! Happy knitting!! January Indulgent KnitsJanuary Knit January has arrived, and even though we still don't have any snow by the lake, it's coming. And on these snow days you need something to snuggle. Snuggle is an affectionate hug. What can be a better hug than a soft mohair and silk wrap? :-)
