Your Majesty Scarf  2018

Picture
A New Scarf for Christmas I made a new scarf from the leftover yarn. Apparently I had a lot, and it turned out to be very long - which is great! The yarn I used was: DK Merino Blend -Pure New Wool by KING COLE LTD., UK and SANDES GARN 100% Alpakka, Norway.
Feels like Felt I had three shades of green and a wonderful 'felt-like yarn" to insert in between the green stripes
Merry Christmas and Happy Knitting!!

Decembre bianco  2017

Winter is here Winter arrived early this year, and the scarf I made for Anna's birthday came in handy right away. We had the first snow at Harbourfront on December 12th. It covered our beautiful roof garden, and everything got gorgeously bianco :-) The reason I am using some Italian words here is that the yarn for this scarf was bought in Italy during our trip to Venice with Anna.
Ivory Yarn The yarn I used for this scarf has a beautiful off-white, ivory colour. It is amazingly soft.
Lellabella This yarn is Soft Cashmere made exclusively for the Venice yarn shop Lellabella.
This yarn is  exquisite. It's 100% Cashmere. I used one skein - 50g - 700m

Lace Stitch The pattern for the scarf is one of the the most simple lace patterns  - the Horseshoe knitting stitch.
Bella Scarf The scarf is beautiful, very warm and cozy. Bellissimo!

Have a beautiful winter!

M-mm-erry Christmas, dears!  2016

Christmas Hat  2015

Felt and Yarn Garland The starting point was the 'garland'- with its colorful felt pieces on hand-dyed yarn. I knitted a square and applied the 'garland'. Doesn't it look like a tree? :-)
Too tight? Too warm? Amelia's 'always' reaction to my knitted hats is to take them off :-)
Thanks, but no thanks Thank you, but No, thank you :-)...   Just not her thing...
Merry Christmas!!

Dear Deer  2014

Picture
Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer ... do you recall ... the most famous reindeer of all?
Use your leftover yarn to make this small holiday gift. Rudolf is knit in the stocking stitch. The nose and the antlers are crocheted.
Wine Bottle Topper What a wonderful way to add an extra special touch to a bottle of wine you bring to someone as a gift. This Rudolf bottle topper knits up in under an hour. It's a wonderful weekend or (in my case) on the planeproject.

Dress up your bottle or use it to brighten up and add some fun to your holiday decor or dinner party.

Shiny Nose
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say,
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight.

Then how all the reindeer loved him,
As they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nose Reindeer
You'll go down in history.

Happy Knitting in the New Year!

Knit. Google. Knit.  2013

First Day of Winter December 21st. Winter solstice. Winter is officially here. So is my December headgear. It's a knitted hat and cowl set. Even though I love googling, I very seldom google knit patterns. This one is also my design - nothing special, just simple cables. As usual, you can see this letter as a web page.
Knitted Squares This set is two knitted squares - simple, but textured. Several horizontal and vertical cables of nice green color. Very christmasy! The yarn is amazing too:Classic Elite Yarns. Lush. 50% angora from Angora Rabbits, 50% wool.

Happy Knitting in the new year!

Winter Warmth  2012
What better way to keep you warm in winter than with knits!

Knits on Ice. Winter is here. It has its icy fingers firmly round the door. What can we do about that? "Fear thou not!"(Romeo and Juliet, Act 3, Scene 5) which in Shakespeare language means "Don't worry about that! "Then weep no more" (in Shakespeare language -Stop crying) Fight back! Of course - with knits!! Wool will keep you warm. Hat, mitts and scarf are musts in cold climates. Ironically, these half-mittens won't warm your fingers. I should knit real gloves:-) - next project!

Knit. Knit. Meaou. What can better keep a kitten busy than a ball of yarn? "Cats find a ball of yarn irresistible. It’s a ball! It’s yarn! When the human starts playing with the yarn our cat’s heart warms up like cooked toffee. Let’s do this together!" ("Cats and Knitting" Blog, google this blog to read more)

It takes balls to knit. If you don't knit, it's time to learn and enjoy crafts! Enjoy Winter!! (it takes balls too:-)

Stay warm this winter!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !

Holiday Season  2011

Arts and Crafts Show The show took place at Harbourfront, in the building next door. There were many exhibitors - painters, writers,  photographers, jewelry makers, and ... a knitter. My sister and my mom helped me out with  putting everything together. We made this terrific display and enjoyed every minute of it.

The Joy of Crafts  2010

The Joy of Crafts I guess I have to confess that I have a passion to create crafts. I wish I had more time for it! But since it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere you go, I'd better hurry and make something  artisanal (French for handmade:-) December is one of the best months for seasonal crafts - great-looking, environmentally-friendly and easy to make holiday gifts. Each of the projects in this newsletter can be done in less than an hour and makes a perfect Christmas present. All of them are my design, but of course you can find lots of similar things on the internet.  Here is my  Holiday Arty-Crafty Collection :-)
